About Oonagh

Oonagh (Senta-Sofia Delliponti, born 16 April 1990) was an ethno-pop project with German and Elvish lyrics. Biography: Senta-Sofia Delliponti used the stage name Oonagh from January 2014 until 2022, at which point she became known as Senta. Her signature musical style is inspired by the mystical lore of J. R. R. Tolkien's universe and by ethnic sounds throughout the world. Senta-Sofia Delliponti was born on 16 April 1990 in Wolfsburg to Maik Delliponti and Elena Delliponti. Her father is Italian and a pizza maker, and her mother is Bulgarian and a music teacher. She was named after the actress Senta Berger and the capital of her mother's home country, Sofia. She grew up in Gifhorn, Lower Saxony and has a younger brother. On July 12, 2003, Delliponti made her first appearance on the casting show Star Search on Sat.1. She competed in the Music Act category for ages 10 to 15 and advanced all the way to the final. On August 10, 2003, she finished second behind fellow contestant Daniel Siegert. As a member of Star Search – The Kids, she reached number 5 on the German charts with the single Smile on September 7, 2003. The follow-up single Mother, recorded together with Siegert, did not achieve the same success. On the Christmas album by the TV Allstars, she performed O Tannenbaum. In autumn 2006, Delliponti made her debut as a solo artist with the pop-punk single Scheißegal, which reached number 69 in the German charts. Her 2007 single Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst became the theme song of the seventh season of the television show Big Brother. In 2008, Delliponti appeared as part of the ensemble of the musical Spring Awakening in Vienna. Until January 31, 2010, she was a member of the ensemble of the musical Tanz der Vampire in Oberhausen. Until autumn 2010, she was also part of the same musical’s ensemble in Stuttgart and served as cover for the female lead role. From early December 2010 to mid-June 2013, and again from August to September 2020, she appeared in the RTL daily soap Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten in the role of Tanja Seefeld. Starting in January 2014, Delliponti performed under the stage name Oonagh and released her self-titled debut album that same year. She won the 2015 Echo Pop award in the categories Best National Rock/Pop Female Artist and National Newcomer of the Year. Her second album, Aeria, followed in 2015. In 2016 she released her third album, Märchen enden gut, and in 2019 her fourth album, Eine neue Zeit, which was inspired by several trips to East and South Africa. On August 7, 2020, her best-of album was released and entered the German charts at number 10. On April 14, 2022, Delliponti announced that she would no longer continue the music project Oonagh. She would instead pursue music under the name Senta. On May 6, 2022, she released her first single under this new name, Was immer es ist. Senta also hosts a podcast called "Sentahood", which focuses on meaningful turning points in life and features guests from public life.
