5. Ownership Verification

Why Verification is Required

To prevent unauthorized claims, you must prove you control your station's website. We offer two easy verification methods:

Method 1: HTML Meta Tag (Recommended)

Difficulty: Easy

Best for: Anyone with HTML access to their website

Steps:
  1. Copy the meta tag code provided
  2. Add it to the <head> section of your homepage
  3. Save and publish your changes
  4. Return to RadioStar and click "Verify Now"
Example Code:
<head> <meta name="radiostar-verification" content="abc123...xyz789"> ... other tags ... </head>
Where to add it: Most CMS platforms (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace) have a "Custom Code" or "Header" section where you can paste HTML.
Method 2: File Upload

Difficulty: Easy

Best for: Anyone with FTP/file access

Steps:
  1. Create a text file with the provided name
  2. Put your verification token inside
  3. Upload to your website's root directory
  4. Test that the file is accessible
  5. Return to RadioStar and click "Verify Now"
Example:

Filename:
radiostar-verify-abc123xyz789.txt

Content:
abc123xyz789

Upload to:
https://yourstation.com/radiostar-verify-abc123xyz789.txt

Root directory: The same folder where your index.html or index.php file lives (usually public_html, www, or htdocs).
Verification Timeline
Token Expiration: Verification tokens expire after 7 days. If you need more time, click "Extend 7 Days" on the verification page.
Completing Verification
  1. Add verification code using your chosen method
  2. Wait a few minutes if your site uses caching
  3. Click "Verify Now" on the verification page
  4. Automatic check: Our system will verify the code
  5. Success! You'll be promoted to Station Owner role
After Verification: You can remove the verification code from your website. It's only needed during the initial verification process.
Troubleshooting Verification
  • Check the token matches exactly (no typos)
  • Make sure the code is on your homepage, not a subpage
  • Clear your website cache and try again
  • Verify the file/tag is publicly accessible (not behind login)
  • Wait 5-10 minutes and try again
  • Check filename is exact (case-sensitive)
  • Make sure file is in root directory
  • Test the URL directly in your browser
  • Check file permissions (should be readable)
  • Ensure .txt extension is not hidden

Click the "Extend 7 Days" button on the verification page to generate a new token with fresh expiration.

6. Editing Station Information

  2. Find your verified station in "My Verified Stations"
  3. Click the "Edit" button
  4. Make your changes

9. Frequently Asked Questions

Completely free! The RadioStar Station Owner Program is 100% free for all radio stations. There are no hidden fees or premium tiers.
That's perfectly fine and very common! Many stations use third-party streaming services (Shoutcast, Icecast, etc.). You only need to verify ownership of your homepage domain, not your stream URL.
Most amendments are reviewed within 1-3 business days. Simple changes like correcting typos are usually approved faster. Complex changes or new station submissions may take longer.
Yes! You can claim and manage as many stations as you own. Each station requires separate verification, but all can be managed from your single RadioStar account.
If an amendment is rejected, you'll see the reason in your amendment history. Review the feedback, make necessary corrections, and submit a new amendment. Common rejection reasons include incorrect information, formatting issues, or duplicate data.
Yes! You can delete any pending amendment from your dashboard before it's reviewed. Once approved or rejected, amendments cannot be deleted (but you can submit new ones to override approved changes).
No. Once your ownership is verified, you can remove the verification code (meta tag or file) from your website. It's only needed during the initial verification process.
They cannot complete the claim without verifying ownership of your website. If someone falsely claims your station, they won't be able to pass verification. If you notice fraudulent activity, contact our support team immediately.
Currently, ownership transfer is not automated. If you need to transfer a station to a new owner, please contact our support team with details, and we'll assist with the process.
A website is required to verify ownership. If you don't have one, you cannot complete the verification process. Consider creating a simple landing page or social media presence that you control. Even a free platform like Wix, WordPress.com, or Carrd.co works!
