About Magma

1. Magma is a French progressive rock band formed in Paris in 1969 by drummer and composer Christian Vander. The group initially disbanded in 1983 before reforming in 1996. Their music combines elements of experimental rock, jazz, and 20th-century classical music, and is widely associated with the development of the progressive rock subgenre known as "Zeuhl". The style is characterized by repetitive rhythmic structures, prominent bass lines, complex drumming, dramatic vocal arrangements, and extended instrumental passages. Many of the band's lyrics are performed in the constructed language "Kobaian" and revolve around a fictional narrative concerning Earth and the planet Kobaia, often incorporating spiritual and environmental themes. 2. Magma is an Argentine progressive folk group known for combining Andean musical influences with progressive rock and European folk traditions. Their music incorporates regional flutes, Spanish folk guitar, Mellotron, and pan flutes, while drawing stylistic inspiration from progressive rock and folk music of the 1960s and 1970s. 3.
