About Riverside
There are three bands who share the name Riverside. 1. Riverside was a Polish progressive rock band from Warsaw, formed in 2001 by guitarist Piotr Grudziński, drummer Piotr Kozieradzki, bassist and vocalist Mariusz Duda, and keyboardist Jacek Melnicki. Melnicki left the group in 2003 and was replaced by Michał Łapaj. Following the death of Grudziński in 2016, the band continued as a trio before later collaborating with guitarist Maciej Meller, who became an official member in 2020. As of 2026, Riverside has released eight studio albums, three extended plays, four live albums, three compilation albums, and a number of singles. Prior to the formation of Riverside, Kozieradzki had been a member of the death metal band Hate between 1990 and 2001, while Grudziński had performed with the band Unnamed from 1993 to 2003. The band's debut studio album, "Out of Myself", was released in Poland in 2003 and internationally in 2004. It was followed by the extended play "Voices in My Head" in 2005 and the studio album "Second Life Syndrome" later that year. In 2007, Riverside released their third studio album, "Rapid Eye Movement". In 2008, Mariusz Duda began a solo project titled "Lunatic Soul". The band's fourth studio album, "Anno Domini High Definition", was released in 2009 and achieved commercial success in Poland. In 2011, Riverside issued the extended play "Memories in My Head". Their fifth studio album, "Shrine of New Generation Slaves", followed in 2013. The sixth studio album, "Love, Fear and the Time Machine", was released in 2015 and achieved broader international chart performance compared to earlier releases. On 21 February 2016, Piotr Grudziński died of sudden cardiac arrest. The band subsequently canceled scheduled tour dates. Later that year, Riverside released "Eye of the Soundscape", a compilation album consisting of ambient and instrumental material. In September 2016, the band announced that they would not immediately replace Grudziński and would continue as a trio. In 2017, Maciej Meller began performing with the band as a touring guitarist. In 2018, Riverside released their seventh studio album, "Wasteland", their first without Grudziński. In 2020, Meller was confirmed as a full member of the band and participated in the writing of subsequent material. The eighth studio album, "ID.Entity", was released in 2023, followed by the live album "Live ID." in 2025. In 2026, Mariusz Duda announced his departure from Riverside after 25 years with the band. In a public statement, he cited internal circumstances that no longer allowed him to pursue his primary focus on creating new music within the group. He also indicated that themes in his solo work, including the album "The World Under Unsun" and the track "The New End", reflected his experiences related to the band. Duda stated that he would focus on his project "Lunatic Soul" and other musical activities. He further noted that he did not see a possibility for Riverside to continue in its current line-up and that reorganizing the band with a different configuration would be complex. Shortly Maciej Meller also left the band. Riverside is a Canadian alternative pop punk band from London, Ontario. The band released two full-length albums and was signed to Bullion Records in Japan. 3. Riverside is an American jangle pop band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The band's style is characterized by guitar-driven, melodic compositions with influences from British alternative pop. Their sound has been compared to that of The Ocean Blue. Their debut album, "One", released in 1992 on Sire Records, was produced by Steve Lau, a former member of The Ocean Blue. At the time of the release of "One", the band was noted for its stylistic alignment with mid-1980s jangle pop, drawing comparisons to bands such as The Railway Children and The Smiths. The early lineup included Keith Kochanowicz on vocals, guitar, and organ; Glenn Kochanowicz on bass and vocals; Kenneth Jackson on guitar; Jonathan Liney on drums; and Geoff Verne on drums. Later members included John Larish on guitar, Tim Simmons on drums, and David Calamaro on guitar. The band released two studio albums, "One" in 1992 and "Taste" in 1994.
