Formed in 2009, centered around keyboardist Keiichi Miyako . Miyako, who had been asked to create an anime theme song, wanted to create the song in a band style, so he first contacted drummer Sakura , with whom he was close both personally and professionally, and together they searched for members and formed the band. Miyako suggested guitarist YUKI and Sakura suggested bassist IKUO , and they were decided, but even after the song was finished, they couldn't decide on a vocalist for a while. Then one day, Sakura and Miyako were performing at an event live in Sendai, and Tazawa was performing as a supporting act, which led to the realization that "he's here!" and the decision was made for Tazawa to join as vocalist, completing the lineup of five Rayflower members. On May 26, 2010, they made their major debut with their 1st single, " Uragiri no Nai Sekai Made/Aoi Ito, " which was the opening and ending theme song for the TV anime "Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru . " They began performing live in earnest in 2014. On August 24th of the same year, they successfully held their first solo concert at Akasaka BLITZ . On March 1, 2015, Rayflower's official fan club, "Shining GARDEN," was established. On May 5th of the same year, they held their first solo concert at Shibuya Public Hall . On October 21st of the same year, they released their first full album, "Color & Play". Since then, they have continued to release live music and, in the fall of 2019, embarked on their largest tour to date, visiting 22 cities across Japan. 2020, their 10th anniversary year, was marred by the postponement and cancellation of live performances due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, on September 20th, they held their 10th-anniversary concert at EX THEATER ROPPONGI , which was their first ever paid live stream without an audience. The performance, including the MC segments, was released on DVD. On December 9th, they held their second online live performance, "RemoteFlower vol.1." As a chic and mature Rayflower, they showcased their music with arrangements using instruments such as upright piano, acoustic guitar, nylon-string guitar, and upright bass. On June 7, 2021, they held their third online live concert, "RemoteFlower vol.2". In addition, to commemorate their 10th anniversary, they announced in 2019 the production of a best-of album, "~One Side & One Side~," featuring re-recorded songs selected by fan vote. The tracklist was determined by a request vote by fan club members conducted from December 24, 2019 to January 31, 2020, with the top 20 songs selected. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the production schedule was significantly altered from the originally planned September 2020 release, and the album was released on July 28, 2021. The limited edition includes a CD of instrumental versions of the 20 re-recorded tracks, as well as a metal USB containing live audio (high-resolution, 79 tracks in total), including audio from "RemoteFlower vol.1" held in December 2020, and photo data. On December 7, 2021, they held their first live concert with an audience in approximately two years at Tokyo Kinema Club . The concert was streamed live for free on their official YouTube channel. During the encore MC, they announced that they would be holding a tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka in the spring of 2022. From April 12, 2022, Rayflower held their first tour in approximately two and a half years, "Rayflower TOUR 2022 "Spring Sprout"" (3 performances in total). The tour was held at the same venues as Rayflower LIVE TOUR 2014. During the MC at the tour finale, they announced that they are planning another tour starting in the fall of 2022. Rayflower will be holding the Rayflower TOUR 2022-2023 “Snowdrop” (7 performances in total) starting November 8, 2022. Rayflower kicked off their TOUR 2024 “FORCES” (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka) on March 20, 2024. They premiered their new song “FORCES” at the first show at Shinjuku BLAZE, and released it digitally the following day, March 21. This marks their first release of music since their 2021 best-of album "~One Side & One Side~," and their first new song release since their 2018 mini-album "ENDLESS JOURNEY." During the MC segment of their tour final performance at Umeda CLUB QUATTRO, they announced plans for a summer tour. After the show, the music video for their new song "FORCES" was released on their official YouTube channel. From July 14th of the same year, Rayflower held the Rayflower TOUR 2024 “fleek” (8 performances in total). On April 7, 2025, they announced that they would be holding their first tour of all 47 prefectures of Japan, starting in March 2026. On November 30 of the same year, Rayflower held their 15th Anniversary LIVE “Next Amazing Road”. The concept was to redeem themselves with a live audience after their 10th Anniversary LIVE “Amazing Road” was held as a live stream without an audience due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, vocalist Tazawa was forced to withdraw from the performance at the last minute due to a doctor's order to stop performing because of acute laryngitis, and the concert was held as “4/5 Rayflower” (Tazawa has since recovered and resumed live activities with a different project on December 22.)
