About Miley Cyrus

Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus; 23 November 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her evolving musical style and image changes and has been recognised as an influential figure in popular music. Cyrus began her career as a child actress and gained wider recognition as a teen with her portrayal of Miley Stewart in the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana" (2006–2011), which led to a franchise including two number-one soundtracks on the US Billboard 200. Cyrus's solo music career began with the pop rock albums "Meet Miley Cyrus" (2007) and "Breakout" (2008), both of which reached number one in the United States. Her EP "The Time of Our Lives" (2009) included the single "Party in the U.S.A.", which was certified 14-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). She adopted a more mature image with the dance-pop album "Can't Be Tamed" (2010) and later explored trap-pop and R&B with "Bangerz" (2013), which featured "We Can't Stop" and her first Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Wrecking Ball". Cyrus subsequently experimented with psychedelic, country, and rock styles on albums such as "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz" (2015), "Younger Now" (2017), and "Plastic Hearts" (2020). After signing with Columbia Records, she released the studio album "Endless Summer Vacation" (2023) and the visual album "Something Beautiful" (2025); "Endless Summer Vacation" was led by her second US number-one single "Flowers", which won two Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year. As an actress and television personality, Cyrus appeared in films including "Bolt" (2008), "Hannah Montana: The Movie" (2009), "The Last Song" (2010), "LOL" (2012), and "So Undercover" (2013). On television, she was the subject of the documentary "Miley: The Movement" (2013), starred in the miniseries "Crisis in Six Scenes" (2017), served as a coach on "The Voice" (2016–2017), and appeared in the "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too" episode of "Black Mirror" (2019). She also hosted the holiday special "Miley's New Year's Eve Party" (2021–2022). Cyrus has received multiple awards, including three Grammy Awards, one Brit Award, five Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, and eight Guinness World Records. She was named a Disney Legend and has been listed among the greatest pop stars of the 21st century by Billboard. She is the eighth-highest-certified female digital singles artist according to the RIAA and has appeared in Time 100 (2008 and 2014) and Forbes Celebrity 100 (2010 and 2015). In 2014, she founded the Happy Hippie Foundation, which supports LGBTQ youth and addresses youth homelessness.
