About Luigi Battiferri
Luigi Battiferri (Sassocorvaro, around 1610 - Sassocorvaro, 1682) was an Italian composer and organist. Little news of his life remains. He was a pupil of Girolamo Frescobaldi and held the position of chapel master in several cities including Sant'Angelo in Vado , Urbino , Spoleto and Ferrara . Five volumes of compositions remain of him (published in 166 ) which contain motets and researches that mark the end of the Ferrara organ school. They were copied by Fux and Zelenka and were probably known to Bach.
