About Betterov
Betterov is a German songwriter whose music lies somewhere between indie rock and post-punk. He grew up in a small village of 900 people near Eisenach in Thuringia, Germany, where he was drawn to music from an early age. However, due to a lack of structure, scene, and role models for making music, he struggled to develop his craft in the way he imagined. Fortunately, his life changed when he ended up at an independent theater in Eisenach, where he took over the musical production for two years. This experience gave him the opportunity to hone his skills and develop his unique style. Betterov's breakthrough came when he moved to Berlin in 2015. There, he found the environment he had been missing and began playing support slots for popular bands like Milliarden and the Kaiser Chiefs. He also played regularly in Berlin clubs and pubs, where he quickly gained a following. Betterov wrote the songs for his debut EP Viertel vor Irgendwas alone at home, and his talent shone through in every line. With the help of musician friends, he created a dense, uncompromising sound that sounded more like a band than a singer-songwriter. Betterov's popularity continued to grow, and his song "Angst" was voted number one in the FluxFM annual listener charts in 2020. In 2021, his single "Dussmann" further cemented his place in the hearts of music lovers, including colleagues like Casper and Kraftklub. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Betterov continued to write new songs and debuted them on his first sold-out tour in April 2022. Betterov's music deals with the big themes of his generation, such as growing up and the pressure to self-optimize in a world full of endless possibilities. His unique and consistent touch, honed through his experiences in the theater and on the music scene, has won him a devoted following and critical acclaim.
