About United Balls
United Balls are a Munich, Germany based band that formed in the mid-1970s as part of the German punk/NDW scene. The bandmates met at the Munich Gisela Gymnasium in the mid seventies. The naming process was difficult at first - "Teen Quo Vadis", inspired then by the current building mania "U-Bahn-Schacht". Soon the group abbreviated the name to "UBS". The desire for an English name lead the band to call themselves "United Balls". After the first successful live performances at the Rigan Schwabinger Club in 1980, United Balls relaeased the song "Pogo In Togo", produced by former musician Jörg Evers. It reached Number #1 in Germany and charted in Australia and New Zealand. In 1993, the band, the band tried their hand at English language guitar pop. In 2005, the band returned to the stage with the original band members at a gig in Munich. They released a total of 3 studio albums: "Pogo in Togo" (1981), "Lieder fremder Völker" (1983) and "Hobo" (1986). United Balls were: Vocals, Bass: Harry Kulzer Drums: Gabriel Laszlo Guitar: Horst Lindhofer Guitar: Thomas Richter (replaced by Michael Zabler). Singer and guitarist Horst Lindhofer studied biology and founded the company Trion Pharma after his graduation. The Sportfreunde Stiller and a number of other punk bands have covered the hit song Pogo in Togo.
