About Tommy Graham
After playing in various bands around Toronto in the late '50s, Tommy Graham moved to Los Angeles in 1960, but returned three years later to join the Big Town Boys. The band split up in 1965, so Graham decided to journey around the world; while in India, he met and studied under Ravi Shankar's sarode player, Ali Akbar Khan. Returning to Canada in 1970, he began working with record producer Brian Aherne. After Graham backed Anne Murray's hit "Snowbird," a Capitol producer suggested that he record on his own. Planet Earth was the result, released in 1970 with help from bassist Skip Beckwith, drummer Ron Rully, pianist Bill Speer and steel guitarist Buddy Gage. Unfortunately, Tommy Graham's solo career was quite brief.
