About The Ocean Party

Like many of their predecessors, Melbourne-by-Wagga-Wagga six-piece, The Ocean Party, try to capture the quintessence of the Australian lifestyle through nostalgic sun kissed tunes. The Ocean Party was active between 2009 and 2019, and released eight albums, two compilations, one mini-album, and seven EPs. Their disbanding in February 2019 was motivated by the sudden death of Zac Denton in October 2018, and most of the remaining members of the band went on to form Pop Filter. The band's original lineup consisted of Lachlan Denton (vocals/guitar), Curtis Wakeling (guitar), Liam Halliwell (bass), and Ben Protasiewicz (drums). Simon Lam replaced Ben Protasiewicz on drums in 2010, and Jordan Thompson joined on keyboards in the same year. Lachlan's younger brother Zac Denton would later replace Lam on drums, and Mark Rogers joined on bass. In its ultimate form, all six members of the band shared in vocals and songwriting.
