About The Nightriders
The have been various bands called The Nightriders (including name variations such as The Night Riders, The Niteriders, etc.) 1. Garage Rock from from Burlington, North Carolina. Formed in 1963, the line up featured keyboardist Monte Allison, rhythm guitarist Ray Atwater, drummer John Johnson, rhythm guitarist Mac Lewis, lead guitarist David Marlette, and bass player Steve Rogers. Still in high school, five of the six members were 16 with the 15 year old Lewis being the baby of the group when they made their recording debut. (source RDTEN1 RYM Sep 13 2009) 2. Rythm and Blues backing band for Doc Starkes. The recorded more than a dozen singles between 1954 and 1960.
