About The Applejacks
There is more than one artist with this name: 1) The Applejacks was a UK pop group in the 1960s who had a number 7 hit in the British hit parade with "Tell me When" in 1964. Hailed from Solihull, Warwickshire in 1964 they were previously known as The Crestas and The Jaguars. They had the novelty appeal of a female bassist in Megan Davies. Their best known recording is Tell Me When. The follow-ups, Like Dreamers Do and Three Little Words were minor hits but their career after Tell Me When was a rapid slide down a slippery pole. Their album now changes hands for considerable sums. The Applejacks were Al Jackson (born Harry Llewellyn Jackson, 21.4.1945, in Birmingham, Warwickshire), Martin Baggott (born Martin Thomas Baggott, 20.10.1947, in Birmingham, Warwickshire), Don Gould (born Donald Peter Gould, 23.3.1947, in Solihull, Warwickshire), Phil Cash (born Phillip Peter Cash, 10.10.1947, in Birmingham, Warwickshire), Gerry Freeman (born Gerald Ernest Freeman, 5.5.1943, in Solihull, Warwickshire) and unusual for the time, a female bass player Megan Davies (born Megan Kelso Davies, 20.4.1944, in Shefield, Yorkshire). 2)The Applejacks are a four piece Indierock/pop band with a dash of ska from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The AppleJacks (Amsterdam) are, Vincent van Outersterp (Lead Vocals, Guitar, Keytar), Hugo de Jonge (Lead Vocals, Guitar, Bluesharp), Joris van Roozendaal (Bass) and Oscar Sanders (Drums). Their songs are cheerful and lively, and makes you want to jump for joy! 3) The Applejacks were an United States musical group led by guitarist Dave Appell that played primarily instrumental rock and roll during the 50s.
