About Thomas Azier

Thomas Azier (born 14 August 1987 in Leiderdorp, The Netherlands) is a Dutch musician, songwriter, producer and singer who has been based in Berlin and Paris in recent years. In the early years of his career he made music that, in his own words, "exploded in your face": a particularly powerful brand of synth pop with full-force vocals, notably on his earliest EPs (Hylas 001 and Hylas 002) as well as the 2015 Hylas album, the culmination of his Berlin years. Azier gained further prominence as a co-writer and producer on Stromae's Racine Carrée album (2013). Having moved to Paris, the albums Rouge (2017) and Stray (2018) marked a distinct shift in style, with Azier moving towards a more elegant and melodic brand of electronic pop. Azier's fourth full-length album, Love, Disorderly, came out in 2020. In between albums, Azier continues to release EPs, such as Raven on the First Floor (2019), and singles, including the remarkable A Collection of Broken Ideas (2021), a 43-minute long suite divided into two album sides of well over 20 minutes each.
