About The Gentle People

There are, at least, two groups by this name. The Gentle People are a UK-based group. The members were Dougee Dimensional, Honeymink, Valentine Carnelian and Laurie Lemans. They made four albums: 'Soundtracks For Living' (1997), 'Mix Gently' (1997), 'Simply Faboo' (1999) and 'I Love The Gentle People' (2007). They worked with Aphex Twin and DMX Krew on remixes. Gentle People (without 'the'!) are a South African popgroup, which charted in South Africa in 1971 with the single 'Rain, Rain', Rain', peaking at #3. It also peaked at #3 in Rhodesia in that same year. Their other two hit singles in Southern Africa were 'It's Summertime Again' (1971) and 'Jump Shout Do What You Want' (1972). 'It's Summertime Again' reached #20 in South Africa and #3 in Rhodesia, and 'Jump Shout Do What You Want' peaked at #20 in Rhodesia.
