About THE GAME

The name The Game refers to multiple musical acts: 1. Jayceon Terrell Taylor (born November 29, 1979), known professionally as the Game or simply Game, is an American rapper and actor from Compton, California. He began his career releasing mixtapes with the support of West Coast rapper JT the Bigga Figga. In 2004, he independently released his debut album "Untold Story" before being discovered by producer Dr. Dre, who signed him to Aftermath Records. The Game rose to prominence with his major-label debut "The Documentary" (2005), which peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned double platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album received two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for the single "Hate It or Love It" featuring 50 Cent. His follow-up album, "Doctor's Advocate" (2006), also reached the top of the charts and included the singles "It's Okay (One Blood)" featuring Junior Reid, "Let's Ride," and "Wouldn't Get Far" featuring Kanye West. The Game continued to achieve critical and commercial success with "LAX" (2008) and "The R.E.D. Album" (2010), which peaked at numbers two and one on the Billboard 200, respectively. His fifth album, "Jesus Piece" (2012), was his final release under Interscope Records and reached the top ten of the Billboard 200. Subsequent self-released albums include "The Documentary 2" and "The Documentary 2.5" (2015), "1992" (2016), and "Born 2 Rap" (2019). His tenth album, "Drillmatic – Heart vs. Mind" (2022), followed and received mixed critical reception. The Game has been credited with helping bring West Coast hip-hop back into mainstream prominence and was initially associated with the group G-Unit under Dr. Dre and Interscope Records, though disputes with 50 Cent led him to sign with Geffen Records to continue his career independently of G-Unit. The Game was a British band formed in 1965 by Terry Spencer. The group included Terry Spencer (lead guitar), Allan Janaway (bass guitar), Terry Goodsell (drums), and Tony Bird (vocals). Their first single, "PlayGonna Get Me Someone" (1966), was their most successful release. In 1967, they gained attention with the single "The Addicted Man", a song addressing drug use, although it was not released commercially. 3. The Game was also a French new wave band from the suburbs of Paris in the 1980s. Its members were Marc Dimitri (vocals), Hervé Lorthioir (guitar), Patrick Larrieu (guitar), Jacques-Laurent Lardaud (bass), Fredéric Rottier (drums), Dominique Cointre (keyboards), and Claire (chorus). Their sound was compared to bands such as The Sisters of Mercy and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. The group released one single, "Walk Away" (1988), on EMI France, and an album, "Under The White Bible Law" (1989).
