About Swedish Metal Aid

Swedish Metal Aid was a 1985 effort to record a single to benefit starving children in Ethiopia. Some 80 Swedish hard rockers from 29 separate bands participated, and the record sold 50,000 copies with all profits donated to relief efforts. Joey Tempest from the band Europe wrote the rock ballad "Give A Helpin´ Hand” which was the record’s A-side. On the B-side, all principal singers had signed their autographs. The main singer was Joey Tempest (Europe), with additional vocals provided by Robert Ernlund (Treat), Björn Lodin (Bedlam, Six Feet Under, Baltimoore), Malin Ekholm (Aphrodite), Tommy Nilsson (Horizont, Easy Action) and Joakim Lundholm (220 Volt). The music was played by Easy Action and Treat.
