About Roberto Poli
Roberto Poli was born in Venice, Italy, and began his musical studies under pianist Giorgio Vianello, a pupil of Ferruccio Busoni’s disciple Gino Tagliapietra. Roberto later graduated Summa cum Laude in Piano Performance from the Venice Conservatory in 1993, and followed up with Master Class studies under Phillipe Cassard, Bruno Giurann, Alexander Lonquich, Boris Petrushansky, and Roni Rogoff. In 1998, Roberto moved to Boston, and earned a Masters Degree and Artist Diploma in Piano Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music (2002), where his principal professor was Russell Sherman. Roberto currently resides in Boston and is on faculty at the New England Conservatory of Music (Preparatory School) and the Rivers Music School (Weston, Mass.), where he is "Artist in Residence". Roberto has performed, both as a soloist and a chamber musician, as well as conductor, at major halls in Japan, Korea, Canada, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, and throughout the US - including Jordan Hall (Boston), Kulas Hall (Cleveland), Teatro La Fenice (Venice), Teatro Comunale (Bologna), and La Sala Baldini (Rome), among many others. His performances have been heard on major radio stations in the US, Italy, and Korea. Roberto is an eclectic performer, with a repertoire that extends from Renaissance keyboard works by English, French, and Flemish masters to contemporary works by Kirchner, Gubaidulina, Schnittke, among others. He likewise shines as a brilliant interpreter of the Classical-Romantic repertoire - as heard here at the Classical Archives in recordings of works by Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, and Liszt. As a chamber musician, Roberto has performed with the Trio di Venezia, the Monet Piano Quartet, cellists Sarah Carter and Daniel Lee, soprano Elizabeth Keusch, and, more recently, with the Chameleon Arts Ensemble of Boston. His vast chamber music repertoire includes the complete chamber works of Brahms, Schumann, Chopin, and Fauré.
