There are 3 artists that have recorded under the name Prostitutes: 1. Prostitutes is the alias used by James Donadio of Cleveland, Ohio, for his murky, physically affective explorations of post-Techno and synth noise. Donadio was a member of the long-running experimental rock group Speaker/Cranker in the late 1990s and early 2000s, which featured various Pere Ubu alumni, before helming Flat Can Co., who released three albums on his StabUdown label before breaking up in 2009. 2. 1980s Goth Rock band from Finland. Released a self-produced 7" record in 1987 called 'Assimilation'. 3. Post-Punk/New Wave band from Torino (Piemonte, North Italy). The band was founded at the end of the 70’s around the figures of Augusto Panebarco (voice and guitar), Angelo Pulini (bass) and Claudio Lamancusa (drums). Other members in the time: Giorgio Pulini (bass), Bruno Panebarco (guitar-keyboards-voices), Titta (keyboards-voices-tambourine), Bruno Cerini (sax) , Filo (vocalist) and Roberto (drums). They released some demo tapes and some contributions to compilations of the label/radiophonic program Tracce - Radio Torino Popolare. The sound of the band is a mix of post-punk and experimental new wave influences.
