There are 2 artists going by the name Padi: 1) PADI was originally one of the campus bands in Airlangga University (Unair), Surabaya, Indonesia. Formed in 1996 they were called Soda before eventually dubbed as Padi. Padi is Indonesian for “rice”. It was not only inspired by the philosophy of rice, which bows even further down when ripen, a symbol for modesty. But also by the fact that it is Indonesian staple food that everybody could enjoy. From peasants, little kids, to the executives. Padi's lineup consisted of Andi Fadly Arifuddin (Fadly, vocalist), Surendro Prasetyo Yoyok, drummer), Satriyo Yudhi Wahono (Piyu, guitarist), Ari Tri Sosianto (Ari, guitarist), and Rindra Risyanto Noor (Rindra, bassist). Throughout 12 years of their career, Padi have released 5 albums. - Lain Dunia (1999) - Sesuatu Yang Tertunda (2001) - Save My Soul (2003) - Padi (2005) - Tak Hanya Diam (2007) They also contributed in several compilations.
