About ORIGA

Olga Vitalevna Yakovleva (Russian: Ольга Витальевна Яковлева; October 12, 1970 – January 17, 2015), professionally known as Origa, was a Russian singer who gained recognition for her musical work in Japan, particularly for the "Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C." franchise. Origa was born in Kochenyovo, near Novosibirsk. After graduating from music school in 1990, she visited Japan in 1991 and signed with the ROAD\&SKY Organization in 1993. She participated in various musical projects, including the Radio Japan Series and a chorus for a Kobe earthquake charity single. Origa released eight solo albums, three mini-albums, two compilation albums, and three singles. She became internationally known for her performances on the "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" soundtracks, including the theme songs "Inner Universe" and "Rise," composed by Yoko Kanno. Her collaboration with Kanno began with performances for "∀ Gundam," including the song "Moon," and continued with contributions to the anime series "Fantastic Children," performing the ending theme "Mizu no Madoromi." In 2006, she contributed vocals to the movie "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society," performing the opening "Player" and ending theme "date of rebirth." Origa also performed at concerts such as the "Ragnarok 2 Concert" in 2007 and Sugizo's "Rise to Cosmic Dance" in 2008, and collaborated with artists including Maaya Sakamoto and Mai Yamane. She contributed to the soundtrack of the video game "Final Fantasy XIII-2," released in Japan in 2011, composed by Masashi Hamauzu, Naoshi Mizuta, and Mitsuto Suzuki. Beginning in 2013, Origa performed worldwide alongside musician Seiya. In 2014, she appeared at "Anime Revolution" (Anirevo), performing "Ghost in the Shell" songs and other theme songs, including the debut of "Bells," which would later be her final song. Origa died on January 17, 2015, in Kanagawa Prefecture after eight days of hospitalization. Official announcements cited heart failure as the cause of death, though some sources reported she had been battling lung cancer for two years.
