About ORANGE GOBLIN

Orange Goblin is an English heavy metal band from London, formed in 1995. The current lineup includes singer Ben Ward, guitarist Joe Hoare, drummer Chris Turner, and bassist Harry Armstrong. Their most recent album, "Science, Not Fiction," was released in July 2024. The band was originally formed under the name Our Haunted Kingdom, with original bassist Martyn Millard and rhythm guitarist Pete O'Malley. Their first three studio albums released as Orange Goblin—"Frequencies from Planet Ten" (1997), "Time Travelling Blues" (1998), and "The Big Black" (2000)—were primarily in the stoner metal and doom metal genres and have also been described as space rock. Starting with 2002’s "Coup de Grace," they incorporated elements of punk rock, hard rock, and other influences. Their 2004 album "Thieving from the House of God" included a cover of ZZ Top's "Just Got Paid." The band's first five releases were issued by Rise Above Records. O'Malley left in 2004 to pursue a career as an artist and was not replaced. Their 2007 album "Healing Through Fire" was released on Mayan/Sanctuary Records, and in 2008 they signed with Candlelight Records. In 2010, their back catalogue was reissued by Rise Above Records in digipak format. Their seventh album, "A Eulogy for the Damned," was released in February 2012 to critical acclaim, followed by a world tour in 2013, during which they played 161 shows across 28 countries. In March 2013, they released "A Eulogy for the Fans: Orange Goblin Live 2012," a CD/DVD package featuring performances from Bloodstock Festival and Hellfest. In October 2014, the band released "Back from the Abyss" through Candlelight Records. To mark their 20th anniversary, they undertook a 13-date UK tour in December 2015. In late 2016, Ben Ward received national media attention for organising a fundraising campaign to support staff laid off from music publisher TeamRock. Orange Goblin performed a benefit gig in January 2017 with proceeds going to the campaign. Their ninth studio album, "The Wolf Bites Back," was released in June 2018. In October 2020, Martyn Millard announced his retirement from the band and was replaced by Harry Armstrong in mid-2021. "Science, Not Fiction," their first album in six years, was released in July 2024. On 22 January 2025, the band announced their intention to disband by the end of their 30th anniversary tour.
