About Oïkoumen

Oïkoumen is a progressive symphonic metal band founded by Elie Veux, on guitar and composition, and Laura Mazard on vocals and lyrics in 2017. Yaël Febvray joined the adventure in 2019 as a bass player and synth programmer. In 2023, it was Amaury’s turn to make his mark as a drummer. First influenced by big names from the symphonic, neoclassical and gothic sphere such as Nigthwish, Stratovarius and Within Temptation, the band released in 2020 its first EP, Oïkoumen, in the spirit of these groups with orchestras and historical subjects with some epic vibes. However, with the single The Green Queen and the work made on the first album Dystopia, the band turned to a more raw and dry aesthetic. The lyrics became more explicit and engaged. This shift anchors the band in a progressive symphonic metal style, maintaining the orchestral aspect while including a more incisive and tense aesthetic.
