About The Moir Sisters
The Moir Sisters were an Australian pop group from the mid-1970s. Their chief hit was 'Good Morning (How Are You?)', which featured their distinctive high-pitched harmonies. It was released on 5 August 1974 and remained on the Australian national charts for 27 weeks, peaking at 8th position. Born in Scotland, Jean, Margot and Leslie moved to Australia in the early 60s, launching their trio in 1970. They are best known for the 74 hit, Good Morning How Are You. The sweet-voiced trio with sharpie haircuts, who were signed to Elton John's Rocket label, wrote their own songs and distinctive 3-part harmonies. As "Moir Sisters", they released an album in 1975, Lost Somewhere beyond Harmony, produced by the TV musical director Ivan Hutchinson; as the Moirs, back in the UK, they released State of Shock in 1978. In the early 1980s, The Moirs signed to WEA and issued two singles, So Excited b/w You Won't Get Me (1982) and Running Scared b/w See You Coming (1983). The sisters continued to perform, and Margot Moir issued a solo single, Scarlet Skies b/w Tightrope in 1989, and album, Strong And Mighty in 1996. Margot, based in Melbourne, continues to perform with her daughter Rae-Emma in the band Celtic Spirit.
