About Massimo Volume

Italian group that came to notoriety in the Indie Italian scene of the 90s. They were based in Bologna, Italy. They play spoken-word indie rock in Italian, with influences from post-rock and noise-rock and late 70s/early 80s groups such as The Fall and Joy Division, but with an ear for melody. They were noticed particularly for their pregnant and dramatic lyrics, written by Emidio Clementi, who eventually published poetry and novels. After a debut EP and the album '"Stanze" (Rooms), they received much praise for the album "Lungo i Bordi" (Along the borderlines), whereby the music created a dark and claustrophobic soundscape for the poetic lyrics spoken by bassist Emidio Clementi. Two other albums, "Da Qui" (From Here) and "Club Prive'" followed, before the band disbanded in the early 00s. However, they reunited after a hiatus of 6 years, and have since released three more albums and other work (e.g movies soundtracks), while also touring in Italy and Europe. While they have never gained vast commercial success, they are regarded as one of the most innovative and original bands that Italy has ever produced. Apart from bass player and lyricist Emidio Clementi, Vittoria Burattini (drums) and Egle Sommacal (guitars) have been consistently part of the band since the debut album "Stanze". Guitarist Stefano Pilia also joined when the band reformed, but recently left it,
