About Mary's Window
This Chicago based power-trio delivered a heavy dose of self-described "Post-industrial, industrial." Signed to the now defunct indie industrial imprint SlipDisc Records in 1996, the outfit released one distortion-laced disc entitled "Whore," produced by former Ministry collaborator and founder of 13mg, Howie Beno. Songs topics centered mostly on depression, addiction and angst, with tracks like "Penny Red" and "You Look Good in Lipstick" receiving momentum from college and independent rock radio. Mary's Window managed to amass a sizeable cult following thanks to their impressive and overdriven live performances. Initially regarded as gimmick act (thanks to their penchant for ill-applied make-up and cross dressing) many critics soon changed their positions after hearing the bands full-length release. A must for fans of darker hard rock, and coldwave - Mary's Window quickly became a favorite of industrial rock fans (despite a complete lack of electronics and sequencing in their recordings).
