About Lulu Hughes

Heiress of a long family tradition, Lulu has music in her blood. Spectacular rythm'n'blues artist, equipped with a rich and powerful voice, transforms herself into a true party animal, increasinly welcomed by numerous critics and the public… Lulu worked as a soloist with “Montreal Jubilian Gospal Choir” and the “Carbon-14” theatre company and sang on the original tape of the films “Screamers” and “Bolt”… As a chorus-singer, she joined Roch Voisine, Barry White and the Canadian group “Too Many Cooks”… She also lends her voice to advertising films for Coca-Cola, McDonalds and Toyota. In 1999, Lulu was chosen by Luc Plamondon and Lewis Furey to re-take the role of Marie-Jeanne in Starmania. A rejuvenated Marie-Jeanne, very different from the preceding ones, much more alive. To accompany the powerful rocker's voice, Jannick Signal and Serge Perathoner, composing duo of the songs of Starmania rewrote the songs of Marie-Jeanne for the arrival of Lulu who sings 1 and half octaves higher than the preceding Marie-Jeanne. In 2001 Lulu's first solo album is a surprising mix of all kinds of styles of music, electro with traditional balads, while passing of course by a few pieces of pure rock'n'roll! Lulu's single, “Rock'n'roll with me” drawn from this album, smoked in Quebec…
