About Leda
There are at least four artists with this name. 1. Leda (レダ; born June 9, 1987) is a Japanese guitarist, bassist, songwriter, and arranger from Mie Prefecture whose solo project has been active since 2019. In the early days of his career, he went by the pseudonym YU-TO. His real name is not publicly known. He is mostly known as the former guitartist of DELUHI and live/touring guitarist of BABYMETAL. Current live support band members: ** Support vocals: RYO (Unveil Raze) ** Support bass: 孝介 (Kousuke; Vellselk → Crimson Head on vocals , Gokushashuu (獄舎囚) → PLASMA JET on vocals and guitar → Nymph → DEATHGAZE → Unveil Raze → Vellselk) ** Support drums: Allen (TYRANT OF MARY, Necrolust → Serenity In Murder, TYRANT OF MARY, Necrolust → Serenity In Murder, BB EQUAL (BBイコール), Necrolust, support for MUCC) Biography: Prior to being active solo he has been in these bands: Saya (沙耶) as Yuuto (有羽人) → Crimson Head on bass → Crimson Head on guitar → Amulet* → GALNERYUS on bass, GRAVE SEED on guitar → GALNERYUS on bass , DELUHI on guitar as LEDA → DELUHI → UNDIVIDE → Far East Dizain → Leda (Solo) After moving alone from Mie to Tokyo to pursue a career as a professional guitarist, he had already built a foundation in bands from an early age. While still in high school, he formed Crimson Head with Kosuke, who would later join DEATHGAZE. In 2006, he went on to form GRAVE SEED. In February 2007, he joined GALNERYUS as a bassist under the name YU-TO, balancing activities in both GALNERYUS and GRAVE SEED for roughly two years. In February 2008, following a lineup change, GRAVE SEED was renamed DELUHI and officially debuted. DELUHI’s sound fused modern, aggressive metal with lightning-fast, flashy guitar work and a distinctly Japanese sense of melancholy. This hybrid approach became a key foundation for what is now recognized as “V-kei metal,” a lineage that continues to shape the scene. DELUHI ceased activities in August 2011. During this period, his profile continued to rise. In November 2010, ESP released his signature model guitar. The following month, he appeared as a guest during Golden Bomber’s live performance of “†The Very V-kei–Like Song† (Live).” In March 2011, he took the stage as a guest guitarist at a GALNERYUS concert under the name Leda. From October to November of the same year, he performed as a guitarist in the Japanese production of the rock musical Rock of Ages. In September 2012, he launched the solo project UNDIVIDE with former DELUHI member Sujk and Kihiro of LOKA. Designed as a limited-time project, UNDIVIDE ran for about six months and emphasized a louder, heavier, more confrontational metal sound. At the same time, his sharp yet fluid phrasing reached a new level, solidifying his standing as a new-generation technical guitarist. From 2013 onward, his activities expanded widely across genres. In February 2013, he joined BABYMETAL as a touring guitarist, a role he has continued intermittently since. In April, he appeared on T.M.Revolution’s stage at “KAWAii!! MATSURi.” That July, he performed as guitarist at DAIGO☆STARDUST’s revival live show and continued working as a support musician. In October, he participated in VAMPS’ “HALLOWEEN PARTY 2013” as a member of Acid Black Halloween. In 2014, he appeared as a guest at Takayoshi Ohmura’s 10th anniversary live in September, and the following month joined Sound Horizon’s 10th anniversary celebration as a band member. In January 2015, he formed Far East Dizain with former DELUHI members including Sujk. The band incorporated low-end–focused djent textures and electronic elements, pushing ensemble complexity and precision to a new high while maintaining catchy, melodic songs centered on strong vocals. Far East Dizain ended activities in June 2019. Alongside this, he remained in constant demand as a support guitarist. In 2016, he supported UROBOROS’ one-man live, joined luz’s solo tour from June onward, and began ongoing support work for Yuko Suzuhana in September. In December, he appeared at the guitar event “Legend Guitarist – Electric Star.” In March 2018, Strandberg released his signature model guitar, making him the first Japanese guitarist to receive one from the Swedish manufacturer. That December, he supported SONIC LOVER RECKLESS, the unit formed by Aya Kamiki and MIYAKO of LOVEBITES. After Far East Dizain concluded, he joined IKUO’s live tour as a support musician from August 2019. In September of the same year, he officially began his solo career. That December, he released two EPs with contrasting concepts, marking the starting point for presenting a completely new and contemporary vision of Leda. In October, he held a two-man live show with SHIN, formerly of ViViD. He began playing guitar at the age of fourteen. Initially influenced by his love for artists such as 19 and Yuzu, he started on acoustic guitar. After a friend introduced him to X JAPAN, he immersed himself in the music of hide and LUNA SEA, eventually seeking out heavier sounds through Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne, which led him deep into heavy metal. In high school, he formed bands, later transferring to a part-time program while supporting himself through part-time and temporary work, all while centering his life on band activities. At eighteen, he made his professional debut as a guitarist. Among Japanese bands he feels an affinity with are girugamesh and lynch., while artists he cites as favorites include abingdon boys school and ONE OK ROCK. After switching his main guitar to Strandberg models, he developed a strong interest in guitar instrumental music, citing Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Satriani, and Guthrie Govan as key influences. Guitars he is using: ** ESP Cygnus: A former signature model. It features a mahogany body finished with a distinctive coating that leaves the wood grain visible.
