About King Hammond
Nicky Welsh, a.k.a. King Hammond, is a British ska artist. Not content with playing in Bad Manners and Busters Allstars, Welsh launched his alter ego King Hammond in 1988 with the track 'King Hammond Shuffle' on the 'Ska For Ska's Sake' compilation. Initially intended as a one-off project, the reaction to the King Hammond tune led to a full album, Revolution 70. By 1991 Welsh was playing in the reformed The Selecter and also later formed Big Five and Skaville UK. He played in Three Men & Black and then reverted to King Hammond for a whole series of albums during the 2000s.
