About Kham Meslien
Kham Meslien is a French double-bass player and composer whose work bridges jazz, world music and solo instrumental exploration. Born and raised in Angers (France) to a father from Martinique and a mother from Spain, he absorbed a rich mix of musical styles early on—French song, hip-hop, jazz, Caribbean and Spanish influences alike. He began his musical journey on electric bass before discovering the double bass during a theatre residency in Grenoble. In 2016 he left his long-time role with the band Lo'Jo (with whom he toured extensively) to focus on his own project. His music draws on the polyrhythms and mysticism of African and Antillean traditions, the reserve of improvisational jazz and the intimate dynamics of solo performance—creating immersive sound-worlds full of depth, resonance and quiet
