About João Selva

João Selva, the son of a pastor from Ipanema, is an exponent of Brazilian Nu Tropicáli. His music is inspired by the sounds of the 70s and combines samba soul and funky grooves with the new sounds of Brazil. João Selva's solo career took off in 2016, following his meeting with the prolific French producer Bruno Patchworks (Voilaaa, David Walters, the Bongo Hop). From the hills of Croix Rousse in Lyon, they began their collaboration with the release of a first album titled 'Natureza' in 2017. In 2021, his second album 'Navegar' was released, which was recognized and praised by critics worldwide and was also frequently played by DJs. This was followed by ‘Passarinho’ in 2023 and his fourth release 'Onda' (2025). João Selva is an artist who feels at ease both on stage and in the studio.
