About Incubus

There are multiple artists using this name: 1. Incubus is an American alternative rock band formed in 1991 and based in Calabasas, California. The lineup has included Brandon Boyd (vocals, percussion), Mike Einziger (guitar), Nicole Row (bass), Jose Pasillas II (drums), and DJ Chris Kilmore (turntables). Former members include Gavin Koppel (turntables), Alex Katunich, also known as Dirk Lance (bass), and Ben Kenney (bass). The band’s name was selected shortly before their first performance when Einziger chose the word from a dictionary; members have stated that it was adopted without particular symbolic intent despite its mythological meaning. Incubus achieved both commercial and critical success, attaining multi-platinum sales and releasing several widely known singles. They gained mainstream recognition with the album "Make Yourself" (1999). Their popularity increased with the single "Drive" and the subsequent album "Morning View" (2001). The album "Light Grenades" (2006) debuted at number one in the United States and received gold certification. The compilation "Monuments and Melodies" was issued in 2009 alongside an international tour, and the studio album "8" followed in 2017. 2. Incubus was the name of a death/thrash metal band from Metairie, Louisiana. Its members included Francis Howard (guitar, vocals), Moyses Howard (drums), Andre Luiz (bass), and Luiz Carlos (guitar). The Howard brothers originated from Brazil before relocating to Louisiana. The band released one demo recording and two albums, including a remastered and reissued version with an altered track listing, and later changed their name to Opprobrium. 3. Incubus was also the name of a death/thrash metal band from Georgia that issued a demo recording in 1987. Its drummer, Mike Browning, later performed with Morbid Angel and Nocturnus. 4. Incubus was the name of a thrash metal band from São Paulo, Brazil, which released two demo recordings in 1986 and 1988. 5. Incubus was the name of a thrash metal band from João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. 6. Incubus was the name of a New Wave of British Heavy Metal band that released the album "To the Devil a Daughter" in 1984. 7. Incubus was the name of a death/thrash metal band from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The group released the demo "Sinful Dreams" in 1987 before changing its name to Spectral Birth in 1988. 8. Incubus was also the name of a techno and rave music act.
