About Eric Tessmer Band

The Eric Tessmer Band consists of three young musicians whose high-octane performances are known for packing clubs in the band's hometown of Austin, TX . The trio combines traditional blues, rock and roll and funk influences with a modern youthful energy for a truly unique performance. Led by 24 year-old Eric Tessmer on guitar, band members include Allen Daniell, 24, on bass and Doug Day, 25, on drums. The trio is, in actuality, a foursome with 22 year-old sound engineer Russell Sowell tweaking the board on the sidelines. Eric was raised in a family of guitarists. Taking to his father's record collection at a young age, Eric developed a deep love for the blues by the time he was in his teens. Born in Wisconsin , Eric moved to Austin as soon he finished high school to pursue his love of music. Eric has played in various blues bands and backed up several gospel choirs around Texas before he and Allen started the ETB. Originally from Fritch, TX , but an Austinite of three years, Allen Daniell has played the guitar for 14 years, the bass for three years. In addition to holding down the groove for the ETB, Allen occasionally takes the lead role with his tenor vocals. Doug Day has lived in Austin for six years, but is originally from Castroville, TX. A multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, he also plays the trumpet and guitar, but these days he spends much more time behind the drum kit. Russell Sowell comes from the small East Texas town of San Augustine. After moving to Austin last year and becoming a studio engineer, he found the live scene much more exciting and decided to change his focus to live sound. The band's current release is a live recording made in Austin in July of 2004. It captures the energy of an ETB performance within the raw atmosphere of a live recording. The disc has satisfied the requests of hundreds of enthusiastic show-goers asking for souvenirs of their experience. The band's forthcoming release will be another live cd recorded in Austin on the last day of September 2004 at the last show ever from Joe's Generic Bar. As their young attitude and stage presence perfectly contradicts their mature sound and ability, the Eric Tessmer Band creates eclectic audiences where ever they play.
