About Echolocation

Echolocation Leicester based ‘Avant-Rock’ band Echolocation have been around in various guises for more than a decade, several members were in the well received Bocca and some were in art/noise band Chomsky in the mid nineties (this sound was later called Post-Rock). Their distinctive sound marries the “Nu Beat” poetry of Peter Ingram with the tight and surprisingly melodic sound created by Harvey Sharman-Dunn (guitar, vocals, theremin and assorted other instruments, Andy Askey (Bass), Alan Tang (Keyboards, violin, guitar and assorted noises); Dan Hessing (drums); And Paul Hing (Flugelhorn and other brass). They have been compared to many artists from The Fall, Can, to The Streets, yet no one can quite put their finger on where this sound comes from as it is a distillation of years of playing together ploughing their own furrow. Their debut album, C92 is out on haunted by fame and shows that these are world-weary troubadours, uncompromising and angry with the state of world that they live in.
