About Doctor Ross
Charles Isaiah Ross, better known as Doctor Ross the harmonica boss (October 21, 1925 - May 28, 1993) was an American blues singer, guitarist, harmonica player and drummer ("one-man band") born in Tunica, Mississippi. He played country blues, Delta blues, Detroit blues and Juke joint blues, respectively. Dr. Ross, “The Harmonica Boss,” was one of the truly original personalities on the postwar Blues scene. A one-man band, playing the guitar left-handed with a harmonica on a rack around his neck, Dr. Ross produced some of the most hypnotic, John Lee Hooker-like boogie rhythms ever to come out of the Mississippi Delta.
