About Detachments

Detachments are a London based troupe (led by creative force Bastien Marshal) that have caused waves of excitement on the more discerning dancefloors and clubs over the past two years with singles such as “Circles” “H.A.L.” and "Holiday Romance" not least thanks to collaborations with PItchfork favourites Salem, Tim Goldsworthy (DFA), Andrew Weatherall and Trevor Jackson (Playgroup / Output). The intriguingly noirish take on synth pop and post punk that was shown on the early singles has been fully developed into an 11 track debut album thanks to the involvement of vintage synth geek James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco). Spanning eleven tracks that reference Minimal Wave, BBC Radiophonic Workshop and 80s UK synth acts such as Fad Gadget and Cabaret Voltaire, their eponymous album is steeped in existential undertones and disenchantment with the contemporary obsession with social climbing often portrayed with a deeply black sense of humour.
