About Dj Rodriguez

DJ Rodriguez (Bologna, June 6, 1954 - Bologna, July 3, 2006), born Roberto Bozzetti, was an Italian disc jockey and musician. He was a notable figure in the Bolognese counterculture, releasing three albums for the label Irma Records: World Wide Funk (1999), Football Club (2000), and DJ Set (2003). In the 1970s, he was one of the leading figures of Radio Alice, a well-known free Italian radio station in Bologna, appearing in the first radio presentation poster. He is credited with being one of the first DJs to bring hip hop to 1980s Italy, first at the Riverside and then at the Isola in the Kantiere. In 1992, he participated in the first demo of Massimo Volume, an Italian rock band. Also in 1992, he joined the Bolognese band Magilla, and recorded the album Contronatura (1994) with them for the Black Out / PolyGram label. Bozzetti left the group the following year. In 2003, he played himself in the cult classic film "Paris, Dabar", which was filmed in Bologna. After a scooter accident in 2005, Bozzetti was hospitalized. Unable to recover despite his long hospitalization, he died in 2006 at the age of 52.
