About Catrin Finch
Catrin Finch (born Catrin Ana Finch in 1980) is a Welsh harpist, arranger and composer. She was the Official Harpist to the Prince of Wales from 2000 to 2004 and is Visiting Professor at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Finch has given recitals at venues throughout the world. At the age of five, Catrin Finch heard the Spanish harpist Marisa Robles in recital, and knew immediately that she wanted to play the harp, the national instrument of her native Wales. At the age of ten she played at the World Harp Congress in Paris, and at eleven she became the youngest member to perform at a BBC Promenade concert at Royal Albert Hall. From 2000 until 2004, Finch held the appointment of Royal Harpist to HRH the Prince of Wales. This post, last offered by Queen Victoria in 1871, was revived by the Prince after hearing Finch at his 50th birthday celebrations in Buckingham Palace. In recognition of her musical achievements, Finch has been awarded with several academic honours starting with an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Wales in 2006, as well as Honorary Fellowships from the University of Wales and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 2005. Beginning in 2013, she recorded three well-regarded albums with Senegalese kora player Seckou Keita as Catrin Finch & Seckou Keita, touring widely.
