About BIRD ON A WIRE

Bird On A Wire (in Chinese, jing gong zhi niao) was formed in 1998 by four students from East China University of Science and Technology located at the southern part of Shanghai. They are Bunny (Guitar), Jjay (Vocal), Dingding (Bass) and Tang BB (Drum). With the great passion for the classic American band Television and the British post-punk music, they started to rehears their own materials in a wasted trash room located at a nearby high school. During 1999 and 2000, they made up some of the first and finest post-punk tunes in Chinese, including the well-known classic track - lazy cat, which becomes the band's trademark in years. In 2000, the American Bass Player, Aaron, joined the band. The gothic influenced bass player changed the direction of the band to a much heavier and darker sound. In the following year, Aaron and Jjay went to US. The band holds a farewell concert at Ulike bar with Crystal Butterfly. In 2004, Jjay came back to Shanghai. In September, Bird On A Wire was alive again. With the new bass player (Dongcai Shi) and the powerful girl drummer (Qinhui Hu), the band went back to their punk origin and rocked harder than ever before. In 2006, the band finished their long delayed debut album and separate again. Jjay went on to form the first synthpop band in China, I-GO with the cutting edge local DJ B6. Bunny kept on writing music and working at the music department of a big company. The birds are having a long break now. Are they going back to the sky again? Only Bunny and Jjay know it.
