About The Operators 780
The Operators *780* were an Edmonton, Alberta, Canada band whose many influences included punk, ska, reggae and dub. They've taken their reggae records and their upbringing in Edmonton's punk scene and combined the two, creating music that is forward looking yet respectful of its roots. Embracing Bad Brains, Bounty Killer, Fugazi and the Replacements as new starting points they have put their hearts into doing something truely unique--playing reggae music with the passion of a band that has something to say. The music is powered by their voices, a Hammond organ, saxophones, guitars and a heavy riddim section. After an EP ("Power Version") and a self-titled full-length debut released in 2003 and 2004, respectively, the band called it quits by the end of 2004. The Operators played two additional shows on December 19 & 20, 2009.
