The band was formed by four high school friends due to their shared admiration of Maximum the Hormone, as a part of their light music club activities. Initially a cover band, they soon transitioned into writing original music, self-producing their first single in 2016. In October 2016 they created their first original songs, CRASH OVER and Sweets Killer. Two months later Kaede left to focus on her exams. Boa stepped in as a support drummer in 2017 and became a full member that July. The band finished as runner-up at the national School’s Out competition in August. Boa left in September 2018 and the group relied on support drummers again. Their first mini album, Kaika Sengen, came out the next month. In November 2019 they released L.C.G digitally. That December a director of the J-WAVE program SONAR MUSIC named them the best student artist of the year for his Wednesday segment. In August 2020 they published a lyric video for Sentimental Heroine and opened a crowdfunding campaign for their next album. In September, Sae joined as the new drummer, restoring the band to four members. Their first full album, Otome Kaikaku, produced by Raku Taura of CRYSTAL LAKE, was released on January 14, 2021. The single LOVE Ranbu followed in April. In May 2022 LOVE Ranbu became the ending theme for the tvk show Kannai Devil. That August they released the single NEET GAME, shaped with the help of Naoki Itai and MEG. In October they unveiled a collaboration with New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Tomoaki Honma titled Washinichi. In December they announced appearances at Dynamo Metalfest 2023 in the Netherlands and Metaldays in Slovenia. January 2023 brought a new single, Osaki ni Shitsurei Shimasu., with sound work by Yuyoyuppe and a spoken cameo by voice actor Aki Toyosaki. Sae left the band in April, returning Hanabie. to a support-drummer system. In May they launched their fan club HANAbee.mania and soon after welcomed Chika as the new drummer during a live event at Machida CLASSIX. In June they announced they would join Galactic Empire on a US tour in September. They released TOUSOU on the 17th, featuring artwork by PONKO. At the Satanic Carnival festival on June 18 they revealed their major-label debut with Epic Records Japan. A joint US tour with Fox Lake and Dropout Kings was announced shortly after. Their major-label debut single Raise wa Ijin! arrived on July 26. In August they completed their first EU club-tour, selling out every non-festival date. Their planned set at Metaldays was canceled due to severe weather. On October 6 they issued a cover of Believer, used as the theme song for the DMM TV drama “Kenshiro ni Yoroshiku.” At their November 24 oneman show they announced a Japan tour for early 2024. On April 7, 2024 they began hosting a weekly radio program, Hanabie. no Konya mo Osaki ni Shitsurei Shimasu., on NACK5. On March 14, 2025 they announced a new song, Karugaru Everyday!!, chosen as the theme for the upcoming anime Arai Guma Karukaru Dan. In 2025 they extensively toured internationally. Musical style: The band name Hanabie. (花冷え。, "chilly spring weather"), is a reference to the birthdays of the four founding members, all of whom were born during winter or spring. The " 。" signifies progress and was adopted from the name of another band the members were fans of during their middle school years. Their music has featured on DMM TV drama Kenshiro ni Yoroku and Japanese variety show Kannai Devil. They are known for combining loud rock with contrasting Harajuku aesthetics in a style self-described as "Harajuku-core". Their songs incorporate elements of metalcore, hardcore punk, and nu metal, with a blend of hip hop and electronica. About the members: Yukina (vocals) Born April 17, 1999. Height 149 cm.
