About Yann Tomita

Yann Tomita (ヤン富田, born 1952) is an avant-garde composer based in Tokyo, Japan. He is also the first professional Japanese steelpan player. During the 1980s, he pioneered various music fields, including Hip Hop, Dub, Acid Jazz, Monde, Exotica, Electronic, lounge, and space age music. He was also part of the band Water Melon Group with Toshio Nakanishi. In the 1990s, he formed bands Doopees and Astro Age Steel Orchestra. Since then, he has also formed Naives in the mid-2000s. He's even the president of the Audio Science Laboratory Research Service. Wow! His first solo was Music For Astro Age, released in 1992. After delving in some side-projects, he released a follow-up, Music For Living Sound, in 1998. He's also released one live album, An Adventure of Inevitable Chance in 2000, which is composed of two performances from April 1993. In 2008, he released an collaborative work made with Kyoko Koizumi, Linda Yamamoto, Cymbals, and Kahimi Karie entitled Forever Yann Music Meme 4 - Variations. http://asl-report.blogspot.com/
