The World, with members Neil Innes (Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, The Rutles) (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Ian Wallace (drums, vocals), Dennis Cowan (bass, guitar, vocals) and Roger McKew (lead guitar), formed in 1970 in the wake of the breakup of the Bonzos. Their music feels undeniably familiar and yet it is quite hard to describe precisely, some tracks draw from NeoRomantic influences while others tend to sound more like FMRock. The sound feels classic, obvious and anachronistic.
