About Westlife

Westlife is an Irish pop group formed on 3 July 1998. The group's original lineup comprised Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Markus Feehily, Shane Filan and Brian McFadden (who left in 2004). The group is the only act in UK history to have their first seven singles go straight to Number 1, and they have gone on to sell over 55 million records worldwide, and hold four Guinness World Records. They were signed by Simon Cowell and are managed by Louis Walsh. They garnered 14 number one singles in the United Kingdom, the third-highest in UK history, trailing behind only Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Westlife has received numerous accolades including one World Music Award, two Brit Awards, four MTV Awards, and four Record of the Year Awards. Westlife released their debut album in 1999, spawning five singles which all debuted at number one (Swear It Again, If I Let You Go, Flying Without Wings, Fool Again (2000 Remix) and I Have A Dream/Seasons In The Sun) with the group having the last number one of the previous millennia. Their next album Coast To Coast was released in 2000 and spawned a further five singles (Against All Odds (with Mariah Carey), My Love, What Makes A Man, I Lay My Love On You and When You're Looking Like That). This was the bands first number one album, with 'Westlife' only peaking at number two. World Of Our Own was released in 2001, followed by Unbreakable: The Greatest Hits (Volume One). Turnaround followed in 2003, which saw McFadden leave the band and release his own album the following year dubbed 'Irish Son'. The next few years saw Westlife release three studio albums, with Face to Face marking a new start in their career. 'You Raise Me Up' is usually noted as saving the lad's careers and concreting their places after McFadden's departure. Back Home (2007) was also another commercial success, spawning three singles. The release of this album saw the band celebrate their 10th anniversary with a concert in Croke Park, Dublin which saw more than 83,000 fans attending the special occasion. Music Week revealed on their website that Westlife is the official third top touring act within the years 2005–2008, while they were 7th top touring act of 2008. Following a year hiatus, Westlife released 'Where We Are' in 2009. Followed by their final studio album in 2010, 'Gravity'. The band split in 2012 after 14 years following a final tour, where all four members went on to pursue their own solo careers. After rumours of a reunion, Westlife reunited (without McFadden) in October 2018, for a reunion tour and album. 'Hello My Love' was their comeback single, their highest charting song since 'What About Now' (10 years prior). The single stayed at number one on the UK Physical Chart for two weeks, the group's highest charting since their 2005 and 2006 singles 'You Raise Me Up' and 'The Rose' respectively. Spectrum debuted atop the UK Albums Chart in 2019, becoming Westlife's eighth UK number-one album as well as their first in 12 years and achieving 63,000 total chart sales. Wild Dreams was released 2 years later in 2021. Due to Mark Feehily's battles with his health, no studio albums have been released since Wild Dreams (5 years ago). For their 25th anniversary of touring, Westlife announced their 25th anniversary tour and third greatest hits album. This new tour signifies the band's first tours in France and Belgium, albeit missing one of their four quarters, Mark.
