Trumpetmouth

About Trumpetmouth

Trumpetmouth formed around 1994 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The original lineup included two sax players and a trombone. Soon the horn section also added a baritone, not very common in ska horn sections. Their influences were ska-punk bands like Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Operation Ivy. Their shows often included covers of these bands. Trumpetmouth played several shows in Hot Springs from 1994-1995, opening for bands that ranged from Less than Jake to Christie Front Drive. After recording a demo, Trumpetmouth was asked to contribute a track to the Generic Skaca compilation along with nationally-known bands like Reel Big Fish. A split 7" was in the works with Soophie Nun Squad but never materialized. Trumpetmouth's most popular song was called "Downtown" and extolled the pleasures of hanging out in Downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas with the punk kids. There have been attempts at a Trumpetmouth reunion, however Stan Cantrell (now Stanley LeFever) has not been located. He was last reported to be washing dishes in Portland, OR.
