About Ton Lebbink

Ton Lebbink (1943 -2017) was perhaps best known as the drummer of Dutch pop group Mecano, or as a bouncer at Amsterdam's Paradiso club, but he also produced two LPs of post-punk music and spoken word poetry, in Dutch: Luchtkastelen (1981) and Hongerwinter (1982). Don't let this put you off, non-Dutch speakers: the music is quite nice too. Ton used the Linn drum computer and some guitars. Its a funny record, sometimes sad. Lebbink's 'Voetbalknieën' is a bit of a classic of the Dutch post-punk era. Ton Lebbink also recorded with early 1980s new wave band, Couleur Locale. See: Ton Lebbink & Couleur Locale.
