About Tiny Desk Unit

TDU was formed in Washington DC in the summer of 1979 by Michael Barron (Guitar), Bob Boilen (Synth), Susan Mumford (Vocals), Joe Menacher (Bass) and Chris Thompson (Drums). Joe Menacher was replaced on Bass by Terry Baker in early 1980, and Lorenzo "Pee Wee" Jones replaced Chris Thompson on Drums later that year. TDU's first show was September 11, 1979 and their last show was December 26, 1981. TDU played two reunion shows at the original 930 F Street NW location of DC's famous 930 Club, one in 1990 to celebrate the Club's 10th anniversary, and another in 1995 on the last night the Club was open at that location. TDU was the first and the last band to grace the 930's stage at that location. TDU released two records; in 1980, a live album recorded at the 930 Club called "Tiny Desk Unit" and in 1981 a 4-song Studio EP called "Naples" Download all of TDU's music, http://www.tinydeskunit.com/ including new original music recorded in February 2007 in response to the rpm challenge http://www.rpmchallenge.com/
