About The Wackers
There are at least three bands called The Wackers. 1. The Wackers an Elektra Records group produced by Gary Usher, who established the band from members of Roxy, which had a moderate success. Musicians Bob Segarini with fellow Roxy member Randy Bishop vocalist, Bill 'Kootch' Trochim on bass and keyborads with guitarist Michael Stull and drummer Spencer Earnshaw made up the original group. Elektra released their debut WACKERING HEIGHTS, which included session saxist Jack Schaeffer on horns. Following the success of the tracks "Travelin' Time" and "Body Go Round", the band toured Canada and the US. The next year they released HOT WACKS, which featured Segarini's "Windy Days", Bishop's "I Got My Friends" and remakes of "New York City" and "Rock and Roll Circus", which the two wrote while with Roxy in 1970. Recorded in Toronto, SHREDDER was released in 1973 and featured "Day and Night", "Beach Song" and "Last Dance". Session drummer Jerry Mercer replaced Earnshaw when the group relocated to Canada and JP Lauzon replaced Randy Stull on guitar. Segarini and Trochim would then form The Dudes, with original April Wine members David and Ritchie Henman and future member Brian Greenway for one album. 2. The Wackers were a British pop / beat group of the mid-1960s, hailing from Wales and initially known under two earlier names, Dino & The Wildfires and Terry & The Rhythm Rockers. As The Wackers they regularly performed around Merseyside and they were happy to give the impression they were from Liverpool. Their three singles were all in a distinct Merseybeat style: 'I Wonder Why' (1964) for Oriole, 'Love or Money' and 'The Girl Who Wanted Fame' (both 1965) for Piccadilly. 3. The Wackers was a punk band from Pennsylvania, United States, active in the 1990s.
