About The Roads
There are at least three bands with the name The Roads: 1) a 5 piece band from Derby (UK). 2) a Czech band. 3) a 4 piece female band from London (UK). 1) The Roads are a 5 piece band from Derby (UK) formed in late 2004. The current line-up is Tom Cambell (Vocals), Gavin Davies (Guitar), Gareth Davies (Guitar), Adam Ceney (Bass) and Dave Oliffe (Drums). In the beginning it was Gavin, Adam, and Dave who were joined by Ian Cauldwell on Vocals they performed around the Derby area releashing limited numbers of live tracks. Ian left in the summer of 2006 to develop his solo project Countryboy Delinquent. Instead of looking for a new singer Gavin stepped up to the microphone and the band enlisted Gavins brother Gareth, who had recently left his band Frankie Gets Cash on Guitar. This line-up went on to record and distribute the 6 track There Goes the Sound EP in Feb 2007. Recieving good reviews for Hear No Evil from PlayMusic magazine, and Know you Better becoming a firm fan favourite at live shows. There was a break over that summer when Dave left for the US, but by the September of that year they were back as a four piece. A video for Hear No Evil was filmed in October by James Ruffel. With heavy gigging schedule taking them around the country towards the end of 2007 they retired to the studio to write new tunes. The result of this was a 5 track live ep featuring all new tracks which was well recieved. Again the band were forced to miss the summer as Dave injured his arm and was unable to drum, but he was back to full fitness by October and they began were they left off, gigging the new songs. In December the band brought Tom Cambell (The Blinding) in on vocals to add a new dimension to their sound. Reworks of their songs are under way and 2009 looks like it will be a busy year with the band hoping to get back into the studio for a new album which they will be back out on the road to promote. 2) There is also a Czech band called The Roads. 3) The Roads are a four piece female folk-rock band from London, UK Jane - lead vocals, guitar Ruth - vocals, guitar Cat - vocals, percussion Lucy - vocals, keys www.myspace.com/theroadslondon
