About The Red Airplanes
The Red Airplanes came together in October of 2004 when both singer/guitarist Nathan Walker and guitarist Chris Rocha were joined by guitarist Joel Carpenter. Based out of Beaumont and Houston Texas, TRA is not ashamed to be considered a Christian band, as their goal is to "challenge young and old alike to take their God given responsibility of reaching the world for Christ." This remains the group’s focal point since "there’s no room for rock-star egos" which Walker commented on in an interview with the Houston Chronicle. TRA posseses rock and indie elements which have proved to be appealing to all audiences, young and old alike. Their first self-titled debut album was released in June of 2005 and was recorded by Mark Townsend, who produced MMHMM, the latest release from MTV recognized Reliant K. Walker’s emotive lyrics stand out in every track on the CD. From lyrics as simple as 'There’s somebody out in the world that needs you' to praise-like confessions about his purpose as a musician, Walker’s words serve as motivation to the person who is looking for a deeper meaning to life. Current line-up consists of Nathan Walker (vocals, guitar), Joel Carpenter (lead guitar), Derek Ray (bass/BGV's), and Matt Jackson (drums). The Red Airplanes have been recording for their second full-length album as of August 2006, and it is projected to be released in November. They plan to continue touring and playing shows in and around Texas, and have plans in March of the following year, to do a tour in Ireland. On the night of January 26th, 2007, The Red Airplanes played their official album release concert at the Church on the Rock North. The intense concert showed the debut of many new songs (many new hit songs, I may say) and was a rockin' show. The Red Airplanes plan to have a third album out around March of 2008, and after that, they plan to release a live album sometime in the near future. www.myspace.com/theredairplanes
